iPad 2 Possibly Spotted at CES Event
Someone apparently spotted the long-rumored iPad successor at the Consumer Electronics Show currently underway. As reported by Mashable/iLounge, it seems GoPod Mobile — a Chinese accessor manufacturer — got their hands on a prototype:
Is this the back of the upcoming iPad 2? This piece of metal spotted yesterday at a CES booth sure looks like the back of an iPad, with new holes for speakers and a front-facing camera. When we dropped by Chinese manufacturer GoPod Mobile’s booth today for confirmation and more photos, the “iPad 2″ was hidden underneath a stack of papers, and the purveyors wouldn’t let us take pictures of it. Two of our reporters quizzed a person working at the GoPod booth; these staffers confirmed that this item was indeed the back of the next iPad, sent to GoPod Mobile by Apple itself.
According to Mashable, it is very rare for Apple to send out prototypes so they are skeptical about this really being the successor-design. CES runs Jan. 6-9 so lets hope more will be unveiled in the coming days or even hours.
