IM+ for iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad Review

IM+, an instant messaging client by SHAPE Services, has now become a universal app, supporting the iPhone, iPod Touch and now fully optimized for use with the iPad. A popular app on the iPhone platform, IM+ has added some new features to their newest release.

Review
IM+ allows you to stay connected to your friends on Twitter, Skype Chat, Facebook, Google Talk, Yahoo, MSN/Live Messenger, AIM/iChat, ICQ, MySpace and Jabber. The main window appears much like the iPad’s mail interface, with your contacts appearing to your left, listing your online and offline contacts, according to how you set up your preference. The right hand side of the screen is where your conversations take place.

You can have several conversations going on simultaneously across multiple IM services. Also, IM+ allows you to open up a web browser from within the application. This is something I’ve never seen included before in an instant messaging app and my kudos goes out to the developers. It’s a feature that is quite helpful especially when you or a friend refers to a link during your conversation.

IM+ works great in keeping all your social networks organized. The app also supports push for up to 7 days, so you’ll never miss out on a chat, includes speech recognition and offers external keyboard support for the iPad.

Recommendation
IM+ for iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad is recommended to for those seeking a good instant messaging client. It does everything it says, supports a host of social networks with push notification and even comes with its own built-in browser. IM+ is now available at the App Store for $9.99.
