iBooks to Receive Update, Adds PDF Viewer and Bookmarks

By on Jun 7, 2010 at 11:25 am

In his WWDC 2010 keynote this morning, Steve Jobs announced iBooks, the iPad’s e-book reader, will be receiving some updates with the addition of a PDF viewer and bookmarks.

iBooks will have the added ability to open PDF’s within the application. With this update, you can download publications from the internet, import them into iBooks and read them as you would any other ebook.

You will also be able to place a bookmark in your books, so you may easily find where you have left off.

Aren't bookmarks are already an incorporated feature – perhaps you meant notes which is a feature that does not currently exist.

In addition to note taking and highlighting, it will also include the option to bookmark a page and have the bookmark appear in the table of contents, unlike the original version which did not incorporate this feature.

The release date for the iBooks update was not announced at WWDC. Hopefully it will be soon and we'll definitely post it as soon as it goes live. Thanks.
