HanDBase for iPad comes with several applets for you to begin with. Once you have familiarized yourself with their basic data entry functions, you will be ready to take on creating one of your own. Everything you’ll need is provided for you in creating a database. Simply hit the New DB + button and select Create from Scratch.

You begin by selecting ‘General Database Settings’ under the Database Properties page. Here you’ll get to name your database and set a category for it, if you choose. The app comes with three categories: Personal, Business and Unfiled. Next, go to the next property, which is ‘Fields’ and define the fields by naming the field and selecting what type of field is called for. You have many options to choose from including text values, integers, pop-ups, time and so forth. You can add as many as 100 fields. Other options also include the ability to change the field order, views, add password protection and change the start up mode settings when a particular database is opened.

For those who doubt their database creation abilities or those who simply do not have time to build one, HanDBase has over 2,000 database templates that other people have created and uploaded for you to download for free. The templates include databases that cover categories such as business, communication, finance, genealogy, real estate, sports, travel and more. Just select the database you’d like to download and within seconds, the database is downloaded and appears amongst your folders, once you open up the app. The possibilities are endless. You can change any part of the downloaded database and make it your own.

HanDBase for iPad can be viewed in both landscape and portrait modes. It provides a file sharing feature which gives you the ability to install and backup databases using iTunes. Also, databases that you receive as an email can be opened from the Mail program and synced right to the HanDBase application.
