A few weeks ago, some of you might remember hearing about a rumor that the iPad could have a front facing camera. This is a feature that a lot can agree should have been a stock option on the iPad and even on the iPhone. When iPhone 3.2 beta 3 SDK came out Macrumors did some digging around and was able to find that the SDK had a built in API support to test if the iPad had a front facing camera, zoom and a camera flash. This would also help quantify a rumor that the iPhone was soon to have video chat.
As some may have already heard Apple just released iPhone 3.2 beta 4 SDK and in this update its not about what’s there but what is missing that is raising some eyebrows. In this new SDK it seems Apple got rid of the VideoChat files that were present in beta 3. Maybe the VideoChat was never meant for the iPad, maybe it was an iPhone 4G secret all along. Right now, it’s just a rumor but it sure does make you think. So post your thoughts, what do you think of all of this?
