Baby Jones 1.0 for iOS – Help Guide Toddler in Animated 3D Puzzle Game
Sao Paulo, Brazil – QUByte Interactive today is pleased to introduce Baby Jones 1.0 for iOS, their 3D, animated puzzle game where players try to guide a toddler as he crawls by strategically moving objects in the environment. Players must anticipate the baby’s path as he is drawn to toys, open spaces, and candy. The game space is an environment, such as a living room, and the player has an overhead, isometric, 3/4 view. Displayed onscreen as if through a very wide-angle lens, with its characteristic distortions, the walls, floors, toys, and furniture all take on a hyper-reality, as if seen through the eyes of a toddler.
Players never touch Baby Jones himself. Rather, they create a natural path for him to follow by moving objects in the environment. The game includes 30 puzzles and four different environments, where the goal is to guide the baby from the far left to an exit from the environment on the far right. An ideal puzzle game for casual gamers, the innovative AI and 3D animation makes Baby Jones a constantly surprising playmate.
Baby Jones is a smiling, active toddler who turns his oversized head left and right as he crawls across the floor. The details of movement are quite realistic as he moves enthusiastically on his hands and knees. There is no controller, no joystick, and no finger gesture responsible for the baby’s never-ending journey of discovery. He has a mind of his own, and observing his behavior is a good part of mastering the game. There are a few tendencies that become readily apparent: he is drawn toward toys, open space, and especially candy. His natural inclination is to keep moving, no matter the direction, except when closed in on three sides and unable to find an escape.
With the digital clock counting down, the challenge for the player is to anticipate the baby’s movements, creating obstacles to prevent movement in the wrong direction. In the living room environment, for example, lamps, chairs, sofas, stools, coat racks, and bookcases can be dragged to create a natural path. It is possible to nudge Baby Jones with an object, but if it is not done gently he starts to cry, ending the game. Besides moving objects to discourage unwanted movement, players can use candy as a lure to encourage movement in a specific direction. The game comes with a limited supply of candy that can be dragged down into the game space, and additional candy is available as an in-app purchase.
Players progress through each environment collecting stars based on their total time to solve the puzzle and the number of toys they collect along the way. Toys include 3D rattles, pacifiers, bottles, ducks, and teddy bears. Colorful, detailed 3D environments include cozy houses, gardens, parks, and cities full of dangerous and unpredictable activities. A pace-changing game option is the Fast Forward button that speeds up the action and the clock 4x. QUByte Interactive consists of a talented team of game designers, and their splash screen, a futuristic rendering of qubit-based computation, is among the most impressive of any iOS developer.
