Alexandria, Virginia – Vito Technology Inc., the Apple Design Award 2010 winner, introduces Star Walk 5.3, a new version of the popular stargazing guide. The update comes with an extensive database of currently functioning artificial Earth satellites with their exact positions over the ground, which means that anyone can point their TV dish or a satellite phone in the correct direction for better reception. The release is accompanied by Star Walk Month of Astronomy.

Altogether there are about 24,500 man made objects on the orbit of the Earth. 8000 of them are functioning satellites, all of which are available in Star Walk database. The list of satellites is broken down into categories: Special-Interest, Weather & Earth Resources, Communications, Navigation, Scientific, etc. Not only can you spot the ISS flying over your head, you can also locate any satellite, be it a military or a low-earth-orbit satellite used by most popular satellite phones.

Star Walk is a handy astronomy guide that shows celestial objects (stars, constellations, satellites, etc.) in the exact positions on the sky above you, providing comprehensive information about them. It helps anyone even remotely interested in astronomy find their way across the sky, determine where to look for any chosen object, rewind or fast-forward time to see how celestial bodies move. It inspires curiosity about the Universe and helps understand basic cosmic phenomena.

This update is dedicated to the becoming-a-tradition Star Walk Month of Astronomy. For one month Star Walk team will be sharing the most interesting space discoveries and running a series of educational contests about the Universe. Please see Vito Technology website for details.
