Apple Announces the iPhone 4S, Pre-orders Begin October 7th

Apple did not introduce the iPhone 5 as anticipated, but instead unveiled the iPhone 4S. Both GSM and CDMA compatible, the iPhone 4S comes with a dual core graphics card, which according to reports, is 7 times faster than its predecessor, an 8-megapixel camera (60% more pixels), and all powered by the new A5 chip.

Here’s a quick rundown of Apple’s new iPhone 4S:

  • Black and White versions available at AT&T, Verizon and Sprint
  • Pre-orders begin on October 7th, released to the public on October 14 in over 70 countries
  • 16GB ($199), 32GB ($299), 64GB ($399) with two-year contract
  • 1080p HD video recording
  • Redesigned antenna system for better call quality – switches between two antennas to transmit and receive
  • 2x faster downloads than the iPhone 4 at 14.4Mbps (HSDPA)
  • 8 hrs talk time, 14 hrs 2G talk time, 6 hrs 3G browsing, 9 hrs Wi-Fi browsing, 10 hrs video, 40 hrs music
  • AirPlay mirroring, wireless or wired
  • Siri, new voice recognition feature
