Apple has revamped their iPad Features pages and now includes a large amount of information about the apps that will come with the iPad. Here’s a brief synopsis:
- The accessibility control panel allows voice overs, mono audio, zooms and inverted colors.
- iBooks is confirmed to take non-iBooks ePub files, synced over iTunes, so you can use ebooks you’ve grabbed from other services. It can be combined with the accessibility options to read novels aloud.
- iWorks also gets more descriptions: keynote, pages and numbers are all shown in more detail. iWorks is now confirmed to play well with Office, and the apps can import and export ppt, doc and xls files respectively, and can export as PDFs.
- YouTube, Notes and Contacts have all been given major overhauls.
UPDATE: iPad now supports AVI videos in MotionJPEG format, with data rates of up to 35Mbps, resolutions of up to 1280 by 720 pixels, and PCM stereo audio. iTunes has never supported any AVI files in the past, and the huge data rate goes way beyond what even the Apple TV can handle.
