Leading mobile game publisher and developer GAMEVIL® announced today that its hit casual game Air Penguin has been downloaded over 13 million times by users around the globe, in just eight months since its release.

Developed by Enterfly, Air Penguin debuted on the Apple iTunes App Store for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad in April of last year and quickly rose to the No. 1 spot of all apps in more than 20 countries. Air Penguin soon drew more attention, making headlines for reaching $1 million USD in revenues in less than a month.

More eager fans then joined the fun as Air Penguin made a strong debut on the Android Market in October. By the count on this past Christmas Day, total global downloads across all platforms was recorded to be over 13 million.

Critics and players alike have lauded Air Penguin’s simple tilt-based controls and addictive sliding, bouncing gameplay. Featured in numerous top new and casual game shortlists, Air Penguin has been updated since release with social network linking, unlockable characters and dozens of new stages. The steady popularity of Air Penguin has spawned plush dolls and character apparel merchandise available from North American retailers, signaling the strength of the GAMEVIL’s newest published property as an up and coming brand.

Enterfly’s Chief Executive Officer Junhee Lee said “Partnering with GAMEVIL in planning and development has brought out the strength of both companies, and we will work together for Air Penguin’s continued success.”

“Such positive records exemplify what’s possible with mobile game know-how and the ability to leverage our sizable fan base across many titles,” said Youn-Il Jung, Publishing Manager at GAMEVIL. “We continue to have high hopes for Air Penguin and our published titles under the GAMEVIL Partner Fund.”

Air Penguin is available now from the App Store or the Android Market.
