smartstyleToday we look at two different case offerings for the iPad Mini by X-Doria. X-Doria is a company that designs cases that push the boundaries of style and innovation while delivering unhindered and enhanced interaction with your devices.

REVIEW
The SmartStyle case features a unique “puff-printed” cover that wraps your entire device. It delivers improved tactile feel and grip through its 3D pattern and delivers impressive aesthetics to those within visual range of your device. The case itself has a hard shell that covers the back of your device while enveloping the back and front of the case with the 3D designed fabric that comes in different styles. The hard shell has cutouts that give you access to all the ports and usage of the camera. The flap cover folds out to allow you to view (use) the mini at a variety of viewing angles. The edge of the inner shell has a small protrusion which is used to grip the inside cover and keep the “stand” from slipping.

The Dash Folio is a multi-layered jacket case that is designed like a folder case. The finish is a leather-like material and comes in two colors (black or brown). Inside is a full frame cover that holds the mini in place. Unlike other folio cases that use a sleeve or elastic bands at the corners to secure the device, this frame holds the device in place, where as other methods cause the device to have a little play. The cover flap has built-in magnets that allow you to take advantage of the sleep/wake features also found in Apple’s Smart Covers. This flap also acts as a multi-positional stand as one side of the rubberized frame has a little protrusion which helps keep it in place for hands-free viewing. The cover flap also has an elastic band that secures the folio case closed when you are not using it. This case also give you complete access to all the ports an opening for camera usage.

RECOMMENDATION
Both cases offer great protection for the iPad mini. These two cases offer different experiences based on your own taste. If you like more colorful options, the SmartStyle will serve your needs. If you are looking into keeping it simple and useful, the Dash Folio is for you. Both cases are well done and their slim profiles do not add much more thickness to your device. Both cases allow for full functionality and protection and do double duty as a stand with multiple viewing angles. Both cases are priced at $39.99, with the SmartStyle being offered with 5 different flavors and the Dash Folio coming in with 2 solid color options. Either way, it’s a win-win for you.
