KeyCue 7.0 – Search for menu commands with fresh look and new themes
Hagenberg, Austria – Ergonis Software today is thrilled to announce the release of KeyCue 7.0, a major new release of the company’s popular keyboard shortcut cheat sheet. KeyCue is a handy tool for learning and remembering keyboard shortcuts. With a simple keystroke or click, KeyCue displays a table with all available keyboard shortcuts, system-wide hotkeys, as well as key combinations for triggering macros in Keyboard Maestro, QuicKeys and iKey.
KeyCue 7.0 offers a fresh new look with customizable themes, column headings for shortcut groups, arbitrary textual descriptions for shortcuts, and further great new features. It represents the most significant overhaul of the popular productivity enhancer since its initial release nearly 10 years ago.
The new themes offer a refreshing change and make the KeyCue shortcut table easier to overview and navigate. Those who still want to have some different look will be thrilled to hear that KeyCue’s themes are fully customizable so that users can create their own themes or adjust the appearance of existing themes as they wish. KeyCue 7 comes with amazing new themes pre-installed – further themes as well as a detailed description how to customize and build own themes can be downloaded from Ergonis Software’s website (www.ergonis.com/downloads/extras/).
Another great new feature of KeyCue 7 is the possibility to search for commands and corresponding shortcuts. Just enter a term in the search field and KeyCue highlights all matching items. For example, enter the word “ruler” to find all commands that contain the word “ruler”, or enter the letter “L” to get all shortcuts that include the key “L”.
KeyCue 7 can include clicks and other gestures with modifier keys as custom shortcuts, it can be invoked via an AppleEvent, and it includes many further improvements and enhancements. Visit Ergonis Software’s website to learn more about the changes in this release and to download and try the new version.
The productivity paradox of keyboard shortcuts is that shortcuts were designed to increase productivity. However, productivity actually decreases when applications provide large numbers of shortcuts, in particular when the shortcuts are defined inconsistently across applications. KeyCue’s elegantly simple solution is to display an instant overview of currently available keyboard shortcuts – application-specific menu shortcuts as well as system-wide hotkeys and user-defined shortcut descriptions. Over time, KeyCue users will automatically remember frequently used shortcuts and start working more efficiently.
KeyCue has already received many awards, including a 4.5-Mice award from MacWorld magazine.
KeyCue 7 requires Mac OS X 10.5.8 or newer and is fully compatible with OS X Mavericks (10.9).
