Apple Unveils iPad Air and iPad mini with Retina display

ipad airApple just unveiled their latest tablet offerings, the new iPad Air and the iPad mini with Retina display, at their Special Event this morning. The new iPad Air is the 5th generation 9.7 inch iPad tablet that is lighter, thinner and faster than the previous model. Also, as expected, Apple’s new iPad Mini now features the much anticipated Retina display.

iPad Air

  • looks similar to the iPad Mini
  • 9.7 inch screen at 2048 x 1536 resolution
  • 7.5mm (20% thinner than the 4th gen iPad)
  • weight – 1 pound
  • powered by the A7 chip (same as iPhone 5s, making it 8x faster processor performance and 72x faster graphics)
  • Wi-Fi with MIMO (2x faster)
  • 10 hours battery life
  • $499 for 16GB Wi-Fi model
  • Available November 1st

iPad mini with Retina display

  • same design as the 1st generation iPad Mini
  • powered by the A7 (4x faster processor performance, 8x faster graphics)
  • 2048 x 1536, 324ppi resolution
  • Wi-Fi with MIMO (2x faster)
  • $399 for 16GB Wi-Fi model
  • Available later in November
