Classic Solitaire HD comes to desktop Macs
Kiev, Ukraine – RunServer today introduces Classic Solitaire HD for Mac OS X, a precise copy of the original Klondike Solitaire card game included with millions of copies of the Microsoft Windows operating system. Classic Solitaire HD looks and feels just like the old game played for countless hours worldwide, but it contains high resolution cards carefully redrawn for Retina displays. Graphics were created manually to match the original, and it features standard and Vegas scoring, and timed and untimed play.
* HD playing cards for Retina displays
* Draw one or draw three modes
* Timed and untimed gameplay
* Standard and Vegas scoring
* Jumping victory cards
* Mini-cards for 3.5″ mobile displays
* Retro card images for those who enjoy nostalgic feelings
* 7 new HD card decks echoing subject of the original game
* 7 retro card decks
For solitaire players, Classic Solitaire HD is a nostalgic, retro homage to what is likely the card game played on more personal computers than any other. But besides the green felt card table, and the deck picturing a sun drenched tropical scene on the back of each card, the game recaptures something else. And that is the utility and simplicity of the original’s design. There is nothing extraneous in game mechanics or graphical design. It is, in a sense, pure solitaire.
Of course, the graphics are startlingly realistic, especially when held up beside a standard computer monitor. The very high resolution, wide color gamut, and bright, saturated colors all contribute to the added enjoyment of playing this Klondike Solitaire on Mac. The game accommodates both standard and Las Vegas scoring, and gamers can compete against themselves in timed or untimed play. Operational in windowed and full screen modes, Classic Solitaire HD also offers the choice between one-card or three-card draws, different card decks and image styles.
“Classic Solitaire HD is a reminder to all of us who played Windows Solitaire for so many hours, so many years ago,” commented Alexei Garbuzenko of RunServer. “It is a reminder of how far we have come and how quickly. And it is a reminder of how much fun it is to take time out for a good game of Solitaire.”
