Dish Network App for iPad and iPhone Coming Soon

According to a report on Yahoo, Dish Network subscribers will soon have the ability to watch satellite tv on their iPads, iPhones, iPod Touches and BlackBerrys through an app set to be released next month.

In order to make this work, Dish customers must purchase either a Slingbox ($180 – $300) or upgrade their existing DVRs to an HD DVR with SlingBox features ($200 – $400 plus $10 for multiple DVR service). The app will allow the user to switch channels if no one at home is using the tv, otherwise, unless your DVR has a second tuner, you will be forced to watch the same channel as the person at home.
