Fortune.com reporter, JP Mangalindan, recently wrote an article explaining the Apple iPad’s mass appeal. In his report, he mentioned that since the iPad is a multipurpose device, it has the power of attracting untapped markets that would otherwise, would never have been reached before.
We’re talking about iPad users like those who bought the device as an e-reader, for example. Without the ‘magical’ pad, bookworms who never looked into the world of gaming before have the opportunity to do so and vice versa. The iPad opens up whole new worlds to consumers of varying interests and because of this developers are taking full advantage, as they know that they are on the brink of something really big here.
“There’s never been anything like it before, and we think it will introduce brand new audiences to video games, ” said Rob Murray, CEO of Firemint, who recently had two of their games appear in the App Store’s Top 10. Because of the device’s portability, multi-functionality and topped off by its convenience factor, without the need to physically go anywhere to buy content, this 1.5 lbs iPad beauty is clearly the true entertainment package.
