Posted by Jake Wright | Mar 19, 2010 | 0
For a select few Developers Apple has given early access to the iPad but it comes with some strings attached, about 10 pages worth. According to “people familiar” with the matter sourced by BusinessWeek, there is a 10-page agreement that developers must sign in order to take possession of the iPad. Some of the requirements include keeping the iPad isolated in a room with blacked-out windows, continuously tethered to a fixed object, photographic evidence of compliance, and of course no bragging to any social networks about your score. It would be interesting to see how the whimsical device is delivered to the developers, certainly, it is not via the USPS, I would envision an SUV with blacked out windows and a person in a black suit with a black tie with a briefcase handcuffed to his wrist at a bare minimum.

A few weeks ago, some of you might remember hearing about a rumor that the iPad could have a front facing camera. This is a feature that a lot can agree should have been a stock option on the iPad and even on the iPhone. When iPhone 3.2 beta 3 SDK came out Macrumors did some digging around and was able to find that the SDK had a built in API support to test if the iPad had a front facing camera, zoom and a camera flash. This would also help quantify a rumor that the iPhone was soon to have video chat.
Rumor Mill: Verizon Seizing on iPad Launch as an Opportunity
Posted by Jake Wright | Mar 10, 2010 | 0
As most already know, the Apple iPad has an exclusive contract with AT&T for their 3G service but Verizon does not seem to mind much and is seizing on the opportunity according to a leaked Verizon memo. According to this memo first leaked on Engadget Verizon sees the launch of the Wi-Fi enabled iPad as an opportunity to sign customers up for a MiFi device and its attendant Verizon data plan. The memo includes talking points for Verizon sales representatives intended to make sure potential customers are aware that the Wi-Fi version of the iPad is not exclusive to AT&T, and that customers will need to pay more for the 3G-enabled version of the iPad. The memo also takes a shot at AT&T, noting, “Why pay more for the 3G version and get 3G service on an overloaded network with limited coverage?”
