Are you looking to buy an iPad to give someone for Christmas this year? If you are, then we suggest you head on over to your nearest Wal-Mart and see if they have them in stock. Yes, you read it right. Wal-Mart may begin selling the Apple iPad as part of their expanding electronics retail sales. Gary Severson, senior VP of Wal-Mart’s entertainment told Bloomberg, “We anticipate being able to have the iPad later this year.”

OmniGraffle, a productivity app which aids in organizing one’s thoughts by allowing the creation of quick and colorful diagrams, have sold over 5,000 copies since its launch on April 3rd. The Omni Group, developers of OmniGraffle, were so sure of its success that they placed their Mac OS X development on hold to work solely on the iPad version.

According to Morgan Stanley’s Katy Huberty, there has been a sharp decline in notebook and netbook sales, since the iPad was first announced back in January. Huberty told investors that 44 percent of the U.S. consumers who purchased an iPad, considered buying a notebook or a netbook first.

Rupert Murdoch of Wall Street Journal is claiming a huge success for their application on the iPad. They claim to have 6400 new and active members from this application. Apple has confirmed that they have indeed purchased Intrinsity, the company responsible for developing the iPad’s A4 processor. According to Tom R. Halfhill, a Microprocessor Report analyst, he believes the small company was purchased for $121 million.

Lecere Corporation have developed software for the iPad/iPod Touch that will enable the devices to take the place of traditional POS systems. The company will begin testing the iPad FIRMS POS system this week in a “major restaurant chain.” The software, designed for use on the iPad and iPod Touch at shops, restaurants or any facility requiring a POS system, will dramatically reduce costs by as much as 90%, when compared to traditional POS systems.

Kaweah Delta, a California based hospital, have ordered 100 iPads to replace existing laptops for everyday use. According to Nick Volosin, director of Technical Services, the iPad will be used to access email, viewing X-ray images, reading EKG results, as well as monitoring patient care.
