Independent developer Bob Dronski today announced that EdgeMates, a puzzle matching game to help learn vocabulary on the iPad offered at a lower price. A series of tiles are created that have vocabulary words on each side. The goal is to place the tiles on the game board so that each word matches up with its translation on the connecting edge. Over 200 words in 11 categories, and 3 levels of difficulty keep users occupied for hours. Currently available for Spanish, Italian and Polish.

Independent developer Buddy Bergman today releases The Language Buddy 1.0, his new app for iPhone and iPod touch. The Language Buddy provides a simple interface to enter in a word or short phrase in your native language along with a Romanized “sounds like” spelling for another language. You can also assign photos and audio clips. The Language Buddy provides an easy way to manage new words and phrases as you make your travels to far off or local lands.
