Can you imagine a 2048×1536 resolution display being squeezed onto that relatively small iPad2 screen — as compared to large desktop computers or Macs — because evidence is already coming out that Apple will do just that.

Potrus Publishing Interactive today announces that their series of classic fable iBooks will be offered at a discount for the duration of the holiday season. Comprised of six timeless Grimm Brothers fairy tales, these interactive children’s iBooks for the iPad will be offered on discount until January 1st, 2011. This includes developers’ interactive iPad optimized renditions of Thumbelina, The Ugly Duckling, The Three Little Pigs, The Frog King, Little Red Riding Hood, and Puss in Boots.

According to a report by 9to5Mac, Project Gutenberg books should work with iPad’s iBooks app. For those unfamiliar with Project Gutenberg, it is a place where one can download over 30,000 free ebooks to read on your computer, iPhone or any available eReader device. These books are offered for free because their copyright have all expired.

Apple has filed for trademarks on iBooks and iBook Store in Canada. The trademark, uncovered by Patently Apple, is extremely broad. Not only is it limited to text based media, but it also related to music, subscription services, and the possibility of selling content in meat-space.

Penguin has released a video of some of its upcoming iPad iBooks. Although the “books” in the video hardly to resemble “books” at all, but rather very interactive learning experiences. The thought quickly comes to mind, will the iPad change the way our children learn in school, remove old print books and replace them with one device, college books no longer $150.00 but a $10.00 download-able app.
