Apple Announces the iPhone 4S, Pre-orders Begin October 7th

Apple did not introduce the iPhone 5 as anticipated, but instead unveiled the iPhone 4S. Both GSM and CDMA compatible, the iPhone 4S comes with a dual core graphics card, which according to reports, is 7 times faster than its predecessor, an 8-megapixel camera (60% more pixels), and all powered by the new A5 chip.
iPhone 5 Announcement Tomorrow; No Public Live Video Stream Available

According to 9to5Mac, there won’t be a live video stream at tomorrow’s iPhone 5 media event available for the public. Instead, Apple will conduct a private live stream at the company’s Covent Garden store in London where members of the European press are expected to gather. Apple will most likely post the video of the iPhone 5 announcement on their website at a later time.
Consumer Reports Announces First Ever Mobile App Development Contest – 10K Prize

The first ever, “Consumer Reports App Development Contest” has begun. The competition is aimed at giving software developers, development practitioners, and mobile enthusiasts the opportunity to create the next innovative Consumer Reports smartphone application. The press release states, “The winner of the contest, who will be chosen in part by public vote, will be awarded a $10,000 Consumer Reports contract to fully develop their winning app.”
2011 IndieCade Game Finalists Announced

CUPERTINO, California—August 24, 2011—Apple’s Board of Directors today announced that Steve Jobs has resigned as Chief Executive Officer, and the Board has named Tim Cook, previously Apple’s Chief Operating Officer, as the company’s new CEO. Jobs has been elected Chairman of the Board and Cook will join the Board, effective immediately.

Did you know Delta Airlines is replacing flight manuals with iPads and GoodReader? Yes, it’s true! Airlines are providing pilots with iPads and GoodReader – especially since GoodReader was originally designed as an app for pilots! The company president was contracted to develop a suite of apps for pilots (navigation, wind calculation, document viewing, etc.) but the project funding was canceled when it was only 20% done. He liked the direction of the document viewer so much that he bought it for himself and continued building it – and GoodReader was the result!
