Multi-cloud data access provider SMEStorage today announced that they have added Amazon S3 compatible API access for many clouds including Google Docs, Google Storage, RackSpace, DropBox plus many other Cloud Storage services. Providing an S3 compatible API provides a simple and convenient interface in which to read and write files. SMEStorage provides Windows, Mac and Linux Cloud Drives for many storage clouds as well as iPad, iPhone, Android and BlackBerry mobile clients.
CloudDav, from SMEStorage, enables WebDav access for storage clouds even if they are not WebDav enabled by default. These include Amazon S3, Google Docs and SkyDrive. This makes it ideal for being able to edit documents from these clouds using the iWork Application, which was recently updated to support WebDav access. A free SMEStorage account is required in which the user adds the Cloud they want to access to the SMEStorage Cloud Gateway.
SMEStorage today released CloudDav within its Cloud Storage Gateway. CloudDav enables WebDav access for supported storage clouds, such as Amazon S3 and SkyDrive, even when the underlying storage cloud itself does not support it. This makes it ideal for being able to access documents via iPhone and iPad applications that support WebDav, such as Office2, from storage providers that are otherwise not supported.
