YouMail has just announced that it is extending its popular Visual Voicemail Plus service with a new and comprehensive Visual Caller ID component making it closer to a true call management system for the smartphone. Visual Caller ID visually identifies both missed callers and callers who have left messages with a name, a representative image and city/state information, even when the calling number is not found in the user’s address book. This significant change to the YouMail interface will make such services as NumberGuru and TrueCaller redundant, while offering the total voicemail management, transcription and sharing options its two million-plus users have come to expect and love.

Irvine’s YouMail (www.youmail.com), a leading provider of cloud-based communication apps and services for smartphones, just officially announced that it now has 2 million users in the United States. This represents both incredible growth and scale of growth, with YouMail doubling its user base in a little more than a year. Essentially, it has taken less than half the time to grow the registered user base from 1M to 2M than it did to go from its 2007 launch to 1M users in 2010. On the heels of announcing one billion total calls received (more than twice the number of 500M total in September ’10) and $12.5 million in total funding, this represents a significant step for YouMail as it continues to enhance its position as a digital voice messaging service, with users, calls and funding mushrooming exponentially by the day.
